GP Stage 3 Written Prioritisation Exercise 10
You are a surgical SHO faced with the following tasks, prior to your mandatory teaching in one hour.
A. You are due to present a case during mandatory teaching later this afternoon. Whilst reviewing your presentation this morning, you noticed two factual inaccuracies which you have yet to correct.
B. A patient with a suspected appendicitis requires booking on the emergency surgery list.
C. One of your patients is due to have a laproscopic cholecystectomy very shortly. Hospital procedure requires all operative patients to have ‘just-in- case’ blood requested from haematology prior to surgery. Unfortunately this has yet to be done for this patient.
D. A ward nurse has called you about a post-operative patient who is reporting severe pain.
E. Two long-term patients, one of whom has been on the ward for three months are due to be discharged tomorrow. Unfortunately, the patient discharge letters have yet to be started.
