You are an SHO on an acute medical ward. You are required to leave work in one hour in order to attend your child’s parents evening. Outline the order in which you would complete the following tasks.
A. You have arranged to meet your consultant this afternoon for your end of rotation sign off. The last day of your rotation is in two days.
B. A staff nurse has asked you to review a patient who has just had an un-witnessed fall.
C. Family members of a recently deceased patient have asked to speak to a doctor.
D. A patient who was admitted for an acute asthma exacerbation is demanding to leave the ward. You are not aware that they were due to be discharged, and you do not believe that the TTOs for the patient are ready.
E. The deadline for completing essential medical staffing forms is in one hour. Failure to complete the forms will result in your salary not being paid until the following month; the relevant forms need to be collected from the medical staffing department.
