Liverpool John Moores Nursing Interview Tips & Questions
Applicants must have English Language and Mathematics GCSEs at a C or above, along with a minimum of 2 A Levels including General Studies. The average A Level offer is BBC. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to a selection process consisting of an individual interview.

You may alo be able to attend a two week summer school with one of LJMJ’s international partners. Liverpool John Moores looks for applicants to interview based on their current qualifications, their predicted grades, their references and personal statement. In the personal statement and at interview, LJMJ is looking for the following characteristics:
- Evidence of voluntary, paid or life experiences of caring for adults.
- A clear commitment to Adult Nursing.
- A clear commitment to providing the best possible treatment and support to those in their care,
- A strong desire to continually develop and improve their skills as an Adult Nurse and Nursing practice as a whole.
- Evidence of excellent communication skills
- Good time management skills
- Evidence of a willingness to work flexible shift patterns and long hours (you should see this as a chance to show resilience and your hard working nature)
- An evidenced ability to combine academic study, clinical work and family/social life
- A very strong commitment to your studies and to your work.
What do previous students say?
Previous students explain that the interview wasn’t overly stressful, with interviewers doing their best to be kind and understanding. You should expect a one on one interview, with a lecturer, or a panel interview involving a lecturer alongside a student nurse or other member of staff. In general you should expect three or four questions (meaning the interview may be seen as a structured panel interview). The interview normally takes around ten minutes. Before the interview you will be shown a powerpoint presentation describing the course and the university in detail. Don’t expect the questions to be anything out of the ordinary - they are likely to focus on motivation and insight into Nursing.
