MMI Scenario 32
Mr Adil is an 84-year-old man who has come to your pharmacy to see you about his constipation. He is rather embarrassed to talk about this and does not open up to you initially. However, on discussion with him, you establish that he has recently been experiencing back pain, which prevents him from getting about as much as he used to. The GP gave him some co-dydramol recently, and things are starting to improve. He was also given brown tablets for constipation, however these cause a cramping abdominal pain and he feels embarrassed to go back to his GP. He wants to try something herbal instead and therefore has come to see you. What would you discuss with the patient?
