‘BlackStone Tutors 5 Step Approach to Prioritisation Tasks’
- Review the options available
- Identify your 5 preferred items/the ideal order to complete the tasks
- Explain why you have chosen these options/this order (making your explanations as specific as possible to the task, eg. Why some tasks are ranked highly)
- Explain why you did not choose the other options/why they are ranked lower
- Possible further mentions:
Alternatively, if the task were based in ………….I would prioritise taking……….
I would choose to take the sunglasses, towel, swimsuit, camera and sunscreen
- Sunscreen is very important when going to the beach during the day because I need to keep my skin healthy even though I am enjoying the sun, hence reducing my (and my friends chances) of developing skin cancers.
- Sunglasses would also be useful because it is important to protect my eyes, given that the afternoon sun would likely be bright and could potentially damage my eyes with prolonged exposure.
- I would consider taking my swimsuit because I would likely want to go swimming and the normal clothes that I would be wearing would not be suitable to swim with. I would have taken a pair of shorts and a t-shirt if I could take more items, but I can also manage without an extra change of clothes because I will be going into the water in my swimsuit only and without my normal clothes getting wet.
- A towel will also be very useful because I would get wet and would like to dry myself off once I am out of the water to minimise any sudden temperature change.
- There isn’t an alternative to a camera and I would choose to take the camera to capture the enjoyable time that I would have at the beach with my friends, the sunset and other moments that I would only be able to capture if I have my camera with me. This is on the assumption that my mobile phone or my friends’ do not have an adequate camera.
- A laptop, paper or colouring pencils wouldn’t be needed because they wouldn’t be useful at a beach and may even get damaged.
- In other circumstances, for example if I was visiting the beach alone, I would have taken a book, however since I have the company of my friends, it is unlikely that I would have the time to read a book.
- A bottle of water would have been useful while I am at the beach to keep myself hydrated. I would have chosen this item if I could choose more items but I didn’t choose this item as the beach I am going to is a ‘popular beach’ and I could probably purchase a cold bottle of water at the beach itself, rather than carrying a bottle from the morning which is likely to warm throughout the day.
