Calculation Task 14
A patient requires 960ml of normal saline fluid over the next 4 hours and this is to be administered using an intravenous drip. Each drop contains 0.05ml.
Calculate the drip factor required to administer the required fluid amount.
1 drop = 0.05ml
20 drops = 1ml
960ml over 4 hours = 240ml/hour
240ml/hour = 4ml/minute
4ml/minute = 80 drops/minute
