Motivation/Insight Question 3
How would you deal with the stresses of this career?
Excellent Candidate Response
Having experienced environments in which I have had to deal with stress in the past, for example having been the only employee on the shop floor whilst working at my local department store, I have found methods of dealing with such situations. When I am faced with a stressful situation, I pause and give myself time to carry out breathing exercises. I find that doing these for around five minutes immediately calms me and allows me to refocus and continue with the task at hand. In the longer term, I have certain hobbies that I turn to if I am feeling particularly stressed at work. I enjoy reading - historical novels being a particular favourite of mine - and regularly run at my local park. Running also provides me with physical stamina, which I believe is imperative as a physician associate given that PAs are often on their feet for most of the day, moving between wards when treating patients.
